I feel scared whenever I see a Chevy Silverado or RAM 1500 on the streets. And I am noticing an increasing number of these huge American trucks on the cramped suburban streets of Auckland.

I understand why Americans might need such large trucks; their vast land mass and spacious freeways can accommodate them. However, from behind the wheel of my crossover SUV on the narrow streets of my neighborhood, I find it hard to see the necessity for such oversized vehicles on New Zealand’s tight suburban roads. Yet, they are becoming increasingly common, and anecdotally, I’ve noticed these enormous trucks more frequently these days.

We certainly don’t need these stupid trucks on New Zealand’s roads, especially in the suburbs. But that seems to be the reality!
