I found this insightful from my son’s school newsletter this Friday:
This week we have been talking about small choices; big character. Our messages across the week have been reminding us that character is usually built through ordinary, repeated choices; the kind that get very little attention or applause.
Completing the job; speaking truthfully; putting a device away; including someone; trying again. These decisions may seem small, but over time they shape who we become.
At school, we are encouraging students to consider: “What is this choice teaching me to become?” This is a valuable question for adults too. As families, we can help young people notice and celebrate quiet faithfulness – not only impressive achievement.
