I did­n’t quite under­stand the mean­ing of quite until learned this from my cowork­ers a few years ago:

“quite good” in Amer­i­ca 🇺🇸: real­ly good, very good, total­ly awe­some

“quite good” in the UK 🇬🇧: fair­ly good, actu­al­ly not that good real­ly
